Before you make your decision, I'd like to share more about me and my business.
Cathy D’s Landscapes, Inc. never looks at a yard or acreage as being too big or too small. We go to work with you incorporating your ideas and our knowledge of what works and what doesn’t work in our area to make sure that your finished landscape not only meets but exceeds your expectations.
Raised in the farm country of Wisconsin, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with degrees in Geology and English and credentials to teach both subjects at the high school level.
During my second year of teaching, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After a year of chemo and radiation treatments, I was declared cured; however, I never went back in the classroom. I just wanted to be outdoors and work hard and get healthy. I went to work for a landscape company and quickly fell in love with the art of landscape. Enrolling in night school I began taking classes in design, construction, and horticulture while working as a landscaper. After earning my contractor’s license I started Cathy D’s Landscapes in 1988.
My first piece of equipment was a weed eater purchased from a local hardware store. The business has since grown to become one of the largest and most successful landscape companies in Nevada County.
My husband, Tom, a Realtor®, whom I married in 1985, and our two children have called Nevada City home since 1987. We are your neighbors

Thanks for the great job your team did on our recent landscape job. The results are striking and really show off our yards and our decking. Thanks to you for spending time with us initially to get a feel of what we were thinking about and helping us flesh out our ideas. Thanks to Brad who worked with us to develop the overall concept and layout of the landscaping. Thanks to Adam and his team who did all the heavy lifting, digging, wall building, trenching, cement work, sod laying and planting.
Since I was building our deck in parallel with the landscape efforts, I was in a good place to see and watch your team on a daily basis. I was able to see how well the guys worked together and how knowledgeable they were in all aspects of the job. With very little direction from Adam they tackle each task like the pros they are.
Thanks again to Adam who recommended several modifications to the original plan and planting scheme. These improvements really tied the whole job together and gave it that extra pizzazz that sets it apart from ordinary landscape jobs. The final product also complements our deck to the point that it appears the two-jobs ere done by one design/contractor firm. That is how well your folks were able to work with me as I built the deck in concert with the landscaping.

For three years Cathy D’s has been maintaining our yard on Banner Mountain. In that time our yard has flourished into a beautiful garden. A garden that people have been married in, photographers have done senior and family portraits, that tour friends and family have enjoyed tremendously.
Victor and his crew have provided us with courteous, professional service. They take service to the next level.
Last winter when we had a terrible wind storm that caused a large oak tree to fall across our driveway, Victor had the crew cut up the tree and they removed it. We didn’t have to ask they just took care of it instead of leaving or not showing up at all. They did what needed to be done.
In September when we had a wedding in the garden, they made sure to fertilize everything to insure extended blooming. Everything was perfectly manicured for that special day.
Even when there is snow on the ground they show up on their scheduled day to make sure there are no trees down or anything that needs to be done.
If I every have questions, Victor is always available to answer them. He comes and does the fertilizing and gives us advice about the plants and shrubs to incorporate into the yard. He has also volunteered to go to the nursery with us to help me make some selections for this spring. That’s what I call professional service on a personal level.
